DUE TO A MEDICAL STROKE WHICH OCCURRED IN JULY 2020 TO BETTE WE AE NO LONGER PRODUCING KITTENS, HOWEVER IT IS LIKELY THAT IF THE STROKE RECOVERY IS SUCCESSFUL WE WILL CONTINUE TO SHOW CATS IN CAT SHOWS BUT NOT TO BREED
Welcome to Jazzragz Ragdolls, we are Bette and Alan Cowsill, and we live in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, with our 2 King Charles spaniels and our beautiful ragdoll cats. We have always liked cats, especially semi-longhairs, and have kept them all our lives. We have also run the local branch of Cats Protection for the last 30 years. A few years ago, an 11-year-old female ragdoll came into CP care. She didn’t have the best temperament and was diagnosed as having a cancerous cyst above her left eye, so couldn’t be re-homed in the normal way, but did have a reasonable lifespan left. To cut a long story short, we said if she got on with our dogs, we would take her.
Rosie moved into our lives and everything changed. She didn’t like Alan at all but seemed to think I was the best thing ever. She quickly explained to the dogs who was in charge, and so off we went. Rosie lived very happily with us for the next 4 years and died quite an elderly lady of nearly 15. As the story goes, one ragdoll is never enough and, for us, that was the case. We just had to have another ragdoll, and so we combined this with our desire to show and breed cats and, hey presto, Jazzragz Ragdolls was born.
We have been privileged over the years to own and care for some stunning cats, not just in looks but in personality too. They have done us proud, doing really well on the show bench and also producing some of the most gorgeous and cuddliest kittens you could ever imagine. I have always found it difficult when the time comes to give the kittens to their new owners but we can’t keep them all and I always remember; these are the people we have chosen to give them the best life possible. We like to keep in touch from time to time and see photos of how they grow and develop. We are so proud of the lovely ragdoll kittens we have bred.
Please browse through our site, you will find photos of our beautiful cats and kittens, details of how we like to home our kittens, photos of this year’s kittens, and information about litters we are planning, assuming the cats are happy with that too. We breed ethically, registered with the GCCF. We are also members of The British Ragdoll Cat Club (TBRCC) and the Progressive Ragdoll Breeders Club (PRBCC).
Our main aim is to breed to type, temperament, and standard, breeding healthy, happy cats that can enjoy life to the full. We also assist Ragdoll Rescue. We feel we have had a lot of love and affection from the cats and that we need to give something back when one of them is having a difficult time and needs that extra bit of TLC.
